This is our journal of our adoption from Ukraine. We started this adventure in February 2007. We are from Alabama. We have been married for approximately 6 years. We have adopted 2 boys. God gave us the desire and the mission to adopt from Ukraine so that we can provide a good Christian environment for our children and teach them about the love of Jesus. Please pray for us as we continue on this mission.

We Have An Appointment!
Praise God! We have great news. We received a phone call this week and we will be leaving for Ukraine on or around August 16, 2008. Our appointment is on August 18th.
Please continue to pray for us. We are praying that everything goes smooth with our flight arrangements. As time draws closer I will give more updates. God is so good.

Dossier Finally Submitted!
Our dossier has finally been submitted to the SDA. It was submitted on May 14th. It has been a long wait but it will be worth it. Right now the average time before families are getting an appointment is 4-5 months from the time their dossier has been submitted. Most likely we will be going in September.
We are praying for God's favor and that we will get our appointment soon. Again, thank you for all your prayers.
The other update is that my nephew was born on April 12th. His name is Jake Lewis. He was named after my father.
Although he had a rough start to life and spent the 1st 3 weeks in the NICU unit, he is now doing great. God really did a miracle for him. Everyday God touched him and kept His angels encamped around him.

Update
Well, alot has happened since the last time we posted a blog. The 1st thing and most devastating is that my precious daddy went home to be with Jesus. My Dad had been sick for a long time and was tired and ready to go home to heaven. He now has that perfect body and is spending every moment praising the Lord and fellowshiping with all our loved ones and friends that have gone on before us.
The other disappointment is that we just found out our dossier did not get submitted in October. It was such a shock but we realize that everything is in God's timing. Our dossier will get submitted in February. We had to update our medicals and a few other forms. This has been a true test of our faith. We have given everything over to God and are trusting that the reason this happened is that our child is not ready for us to come get him yet. Please pray that as soon as our dossier gets submitted that we will get an appointment very soon. Also pray for the other 2 families whose dossier's did not get submitted either.

Dossier Registered
Our dossier has been translated and is being registered with the SDA in Ukraine. It was turned in to the SDA around October 1st. Now we are waiting for them to accept us and send us an appointment date. Please pray with us that everything will continue to go smooth. We know God's hand is upon our paperwork and we are praying that we will go to Ukraine before December. I know that may be asking a lot but we serve a mighty God and I know that He has answered so many of our prayers already. Thank you for your prayers!!!

Dossier Complete
Well, our dossier is complete and has come back from Montgomery. It is now off to Ukraine!! Not only is it ready to go but it's being hand delivered by Sasha who is our facilitator with Lifeline in Ukraine. What a blessing.
We had the most wonderful meeting last night with Lifeline and Sasha. Sasha is the facilitator and is here in the States visiting Alabama for the 1st time. He was such a blessing. We had the opportunity to speak with him before the meeting and he made us feel more at ease about this whole process. Talk about perfect timing, Sasha comes to visit just as our dossier is complete. That's God's perfect timing. Sasha will take our dossier back to Ukraine with him. We feel such relief. James and I aggravated Sasha and told him the pressure was on. He just laughed.
We are praying we can be in Ukraine no later than November. I know to some they may think that is too soon but we serve a mighty God and I know with Him nothing is impossible.
Please pray that our dossier get translated quickly and we get an appointment soon. Also, we found out that if siblings are not available you can only adopt 1 child. We really want a boy and a girl so we are praying that siblings are available. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue this journey. We will update when we get more news.

CIS Approval
Great news! We received our approval from CIS in the mail yesterday. It went really quick. We were approved in 2 weeks. It's amazing when you put your trust in God and He knows the plans He has made for you. We are now putting together our dossier and should have it completed by next week. Once completed our dossier goes to the Secretary of State in Montgomery to have it apostilled. When means they just verify the person notarizing everything is legit. We will then send the completed dossier to Ukraine. Then we wait for our appointment.
We were approved for 2 children so it looks like we may be getting 2 instead of 1. We are praying for a boy and a girl. Hopefully siblings. We want everything to be in God's timing but we would love to spend Christmas at home with our children. It may be pushing it but I'm praying specifically to be in Ukraine no later than November. Please agree with us in prayer.
